I am a clinical psychologist in training. From that perspective I understand how much it took for these men to discuss the topics addressed in these panels and I thank them for speaking out. It is something that Americans as a whole do not know and need to hear. Many unfortunately have tuned out of these events and tuned into "reality" TV and other forms of television programming that are designed to numb the brain and shut out that which is unbearable and unthinkable. Please continue to get your message out. The mass media can not ignore this forever. Life, all life is too precious to be lost to this futile war.
Thank you
I just wanted to thank the hosts and especially the veterans for their endless efforts in putting this event together. I know it may be psychologically painful for some vets to go through this and divulge their opinions about the war, but I'm 100% positive that this is both for the benefit of the greater public and the vets.
As subjects of war, my family and I escaped the war-torn Afghanistan about 15 years ago, were refugees in Pakistan and were finally able to seek political asylum to the US 10 years ago. War--as is evident from the testimonies of our beautiful and brave heroes--is not the answer. War is simply an excuse to guzzle up territory and oil and it doesn't do anything for those fighting it and those undergoing it, except bring death and destruction.
Thank you, once again, for putting this forum together.
Winter Soldier
Thank you so much for broadcasting Winter Soldier! I listened to bits and pieces while I was attending a workshop by Joanna Macy on saving the planet and dealing with our suppressed grief at what we are doing to it. My father was an Air Force pilot during WW 2. He served 28 years and retired as a Lt Col. My uncle Jim was a fighter pilot and got shot down and killed over Athens before I was born.
My best friend's son Brian O'Donnel is a recon marine stationed at Camp Pendleton. He will turn 21 in November. He is close to being deployed to Iraq and knows nothing about the reality of what and where he is being sent. I've contacted the IVAW chapter in San Diego and asked for help. I know I cannot dissuade this young man from his dream as serving as a marine, but I am determined to give him some clue about what he may be facing before he gets killed, maimed, traumatized and pressured to commit attrocities!
Thank you KPFA from Shirley Mcclure

In the webpage video, it seems so straight forward, you look at the soldiers armored up, M-16's in hand, flack jackets, knee pads, helmets, a Humvee gunship at the ready. What the F*ck!!! are they doing in a country half way around the world, armed to the teeth.
And then one of their mates gets killed and they scream bloody murder, and shoot up the nearest Iraqi or Afghan family at hand. What the F*ck are they doing there in the F*cking 1st place??? sent there by a moron and his appointed henchman,ie.Cheney{self appointed, it turns out, profiteer in thief}, Rumsfeld{profiteer and torture expert, especially in the art of prolonged 'standing',ie. 24hrs.straight after two nights without sleep, try it, it's called 'enhanced interrogation' but it's Not, I repeat Not torture}, Con-di Rice{best liar a regime could ever want, lies seem prettier when they're spoken thru lipstick, the color of blood}. This nation will,'at the end of the day', at the end of the long night{mare}, get its final due, the world is sick of watching stupid, arrogant, greedy war worshipping, weapons producing liars pretend to lead the world. They are bailing on the dollar which because it is not backed by the instrament of Impeachment, is worthless.
It is a mockery to watch an absolute moron lead a once descent country, a country once bound to a well thought out Constitution and the rule of law, I am American born and most of my friends have left this country, moved away in disgust. I too will follow suite.
I knew before this war started what was to come, I lived thru and protested the Vietnam war, all war is the same destruction, of families, human culture and ways of life thousands of years old, gone. Not to mention the DU spread over the surface of the earth to weaken our collective gene pool and possibly cause the end of life over the next few hundred years. The larger mammals will go extinct first, all this, thanks to the US military and its moron{a medical term denoting an adult with a mental age of 8-13} commander in thief, whom they have followed over the cliff like lemmings. They assisted, along with the US Congress and Senate, in the abrogating and willful destruction, of the US Constitution, and have brought about a fascist regime that is planning further destruction of our planet and its cultures{think Iran/Persia}. It is our obligation to stop them if the Congress is disposed to sit by, in their comfort, and watch while the poles melt and the planet is destroyed, it is their shame, and every human beings' loss.
Thank you for your speaking up !!
I am so grateful for all of you speaking up to the truth and what is REALLY happening over in the Middle East !
My son who just turned 18 - 2 weeks before his 18th birthday ... in the mailbox was his selective service card from William Gates...I am so afraid they will initiate a draft. I have two brothers who went to Vietnam and can see we are repeating history.....! When will America turn off those damn TV sets and find out the real truth?
Dr. Ron Paul is our only hope !!

The Israelization of US society & of our military conduct
Whatever Israel has instituted(like Homeland Security/Dept.) we've followed suit. The racism(thus hatred of Palestinians & other Arabs) is institutional there(in a kid's school & society in general), so that when a young Israeli is asked to go & kill Palestinians in the still(almost 41 yrs) illegally Occupied Territories, it's no big deal. And they torment their victims on a daily basis. This militarism, all based on hatred & fear & fostered by the need "to be secure"(with politicians manipulating fear) is so great that countries like ours & Israel regularly kill for security. It's similar to being religious & believing in God & also to being loyal to one's country(call it patriotism); they both require some brainwashing with FEAR as an essential ingredient. What a world this would be if there were not the profit motive in "war"(shock & awe for the victims) and school kids were taught the truth about "Why We Fight". Albert Einstein, at the end of WWI, said that there would be no wars when men(women)stopped fighting in them. In our/Israel's war-based economy, we have to stop working in places that make arms, too.
Winter Soldier
As a Muslim and an American I want to thank all the panalists for thier courage to speak out and hopefully bring attention to the suffering of the people in Iraq and Afganistan and the soldiers, to the rest of the nation. I would occationaly write e-mails and call our elected represenitives but because of Winter Soldier '08 I will write and call and try to affect change much more than before as Allah wills. And I give Salam "Peace " to all those involved, again thank you.
With Deep Gratitude
Thank you so much for airing this event this weekend. As a former reservist (MAJ-flight nurse) who missed active duty service in Vietnam and Gulf War I, I am so proud of the men and women who have the courage to speak out about their experience in this war (and those who don't). I have come to believe as a trained healthcare professional and human being that all war is immoral and extracts a far greater price than the benefit it provides.
The testimony this weekend has made me even more determined to find ways to support these walking wounded warriors and look for ways to open dialogue about war in my community. I plan to explore ways to host a dialogue w/ local vets here in Oakland beginning with my immediate community.
My heartfelt thanks to all of the vets who spoke and all who wanted to but could not. We owe you more than our lives. I am in your gratitude.
Blessings.

Thank you KPFA
KPFA and Pacifica Radio have provided such a huge service to all of us -- veterans, the anti-war movement, and the Iraqi people, by allowing soldiers to tell their own stories. We don't need analysts hitting us over the head with their rhetoric. It has been so much more powerful to hear these accounts from those who have lived through the occupation. It is sad, but not surprising, that the Bush administration kept Iraqis from coming to the US to testify about what they have experienced.
You are missing the Big Picture
The conference was touching, but you continue to be behind the learning curve on the underlying issues, just as almost all the veterans were for the entirety of their military careers. Imagine a person joining the military to make the world a better place! That is about as delusory as one can get! Imagine anyone ever believing a single word from George W. Bush or Dick Cheney in the days after 9/11/2001 or any other time! Imagine going off to join the Army to pay back Iraq for 9/11! That is about as ignorant as a human can get, and yet many young persons did exactly that.
The same ignorance is perpetuated by KPFA, which misses the Big Picture of Peak Oil and the pending collapse of the world financial system, which is all part of the Big Picture missed completely during the Winter Soldier Forum. The U.S. government obviously lied about the reasons for invading Iraq and Afghanistan, but KPFA has failed to emphasize the reasons why the US government must continue the occupation in order to maintain the goals of a dominant US Economy and military in a world of increasing hyper-competitiveness and increasing resource scarcity.
KPFA was recently begging members for contributions, including endless suggestions that members put their contributions on credit cards! Imagine that while we watch the world's credit institutions and financial system melt down in a sea of debt! KPFA is perpetuating the very problems that the US military is supposed to solve by controlling Middle Eatern petroleum resources for the benefit of propping up the U.S. economy and world financial system.
Things will be getting dramatically worse, and the shaky status of the world economic system right now portend a likely collapse of the world economy, with much more suffering, compounded by global climate change, a likely reduction in the world's food supply for humans, a possible die off of millions of poor around the world, and the likelihood of more resource wars, not less. And this may very well lead to anarchy at home, the large-scale implementation of a police state in the U.S. and the evolution of an American insurgency against the government.
Why can't you guys see the Big Picture? PTSD is a minor issue for a relatively few people compared with the shit that is about to hit the fan, and I never saw Aaron and Aimee put any of this in context.
THANK YOU, to everyone who saw to providing 'Winter Soldier'
And particularly BIG THANK YOU to all the troops who testified during these three days; though still big thanks to KPFA.
I wish I had high-speed Internet, but don't, so will listen to the audios, which surely provide the most essential content, anyway.
HOPEFULLY, the troops still serving in Iraq and Afghanistan will know or learn of 'Winter Soldier' and what's been revealed through this event's many testimonies. It'd also be good if Canadian and other forces in Afghanistan learned of this, and they hopefully will.
They're hopefully not so badly affected in PTSD terms that they would not be able to clearly understand what 'Winter Soldier' is TELLING THE WHOLE WORLD, particularly the USA and its allied countries. Iraqis will surely be happy about this type of event finally happening, and I hope that they'll be able to have ever more reason for real hope soon; this weekend's event is surely a commencement of such hopeful reality for them.
May the politicians making these wars against peace now feel so embarrassed, etc., that they all seek to RESIGN and fast, soon; resign and RUN ... away ... from humanity, and then stay away from it.

misleading webpages for winter soldier
I really appreciate being able to follow the webcasts of the winter soldier II events this weekend.
On Saturday when I searched the web for winter soldier I found your website. Today when I search I find a website called www. wintersoldier.com that discredits both the winter soldier events. this is disturbing to say the least.
Thanks again.

Winter Soldier
It is very important to make links to past wars. I've just heard one WWII Vet saying he and his compatriots stopped a planned US war in China immediately after the end of WWII by massive 10,000 servicemen protests. Then another saying that as a result of service in Iraq babise were born with very serious health problems (see 'Beyond Treason' for graphic evidence)http://video.google.com/ googlepl...824137117584395
But there are another two issues which should be investigated by the Vets: Pearl Harbor (see Robert Stinnett's 'Day of Deceit') & the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty in the Six-Day War of 1967 (see Peter Hounam's book 'Operation Cyanide', and videos 'Loss of Liberty' and 'Dead in the Water', both on -

These events will show just what the High Command and Admin think about servicemen, and also may draw them into investigating what really happened on 9/11. Paul Barbara London UK
PURE INSPIRATION
Hi,
I'm a 26 years old and I've always hated war and racism , I am half black and half mexican and even from the begining of this war and 9/11 I never for one moment thought that all arabic people were terrorist. In fact I love the mid eastern culture. So the way the world change after 9/11 really hurt me. I want to Thank you for this, winter soilder 2008 , i have been ignoring the news because i felt so hopeless when i saw what was going on and all the lives that were being lost. Now you give me hope.... And knowledge! This is a great inspiration for me not to give up on the human race or americans inperticular. I Hope these testimonies are heard around the world. I send all my hopes and prayers to you. Thank you again, so very much. god be with you in your noble cause!!!!!!!
Happy Birthday Ronn Cantu

Winter Soldier to Winter Warrior
I'm convinced that the best way to overcome the shame that stems from official betrayal and corruption, a shame that invades the soul and shocks an ill considered loyalty, is to recognize the crucial divide that has developed between American patriots of Constitutionally embraced principle, and patriots of blind identification with the Masquerade State that brandishes every American symbol behind which they hide.
We often hear of the strategy of divide and conquer, and just as often the motto of united we stand. While it's true that division is useful to our enemies, so is denial when division exists, and those who point it out should not be confused with those who work for it. The worst thing we can do beside insulating ourselves from the pounding of jackboots on pavement, is to try and get along in some gay notion of peace. We are at war, not with the contrived bugaboo of terrorism, but with the sly advances of tyranny. The law, as far as it conforms with the Supreme Law of the land is the only means of the civilized warfare we must conduct.
The United Nations with it's communistic charter and design of world domination; the false political spectrum with it's pretense of including every political dimension between two forms of tyranny; the force "public" schools that harness and corrupt our natural born social inclinations; the dissolution of boundaries between collective and private terms through the political definition of corporations as persons; these and others like Smog Check and signing statements are the true enemy of a national character that never brings shame to those who adhere to it's principles.
Many of us have our favorite thing to hate and criticize. The cause of rampant violence finding more and more avenues of expression are certainly not singular. It's a sacred cow over which I ask for reconsideration, but I'm certain that the biggest contributor is the mandatory public school system. It is here where young dependant minds are violated most stealthily. It is here where the fundamental clash between the principle of individual liberty and forced attendance rages. This is where the young mind is defeated in a way that cripples the willingness to resist tyranny. Once this condition is achieved the military, with it's abject hypocrisy in it's oath to defend and uphold the US Constitution, is there to recruit.
The next phase should be called Winter Warrior, for a soldier is not the kind of warrior we need, but instead is a term for mindless obeyers on the wrong side of this divided country.
adding on
I know that my normal writing style imitates the typical pedantry of the school professor. I've spent a lot time teaching myself in the ideal of concision, making it primary against the more lavish use of time and space that might invite a level conversation. The better I get at it, the less response I get. I have to wonder if I too am insulating myself, and that perhaps the last thing I really want is a conversation with someone capable of making me think better of what I am saying in a complete social vacuum. There hasn't been a single entry from anyone that wasn't capable of being an involving thread, give and take. As it is this time, it's by no means a conversation, and we are talking past each other. A mere, albeit thoughtful collection of opinions. Mine included.
I guess that many forum speakers deliberately try to distinguish themselves from the scholastics they see as analysing the life out of every good thing, and do so by appearing as if they never heard of grammar, and decide to mispell and mispunctuate as much as possible.
I know how incredibly unkind teachers can be as they humiliate with that damned kindly smile on their face. It's no wonder there is the appearance of widespread illiteracy. It's an immature rebellion and one that may be the impetus toward a mature one. No doubt, we the thoroughly schooled can remember at least one teacher that was an exception, who did their best to do as much good as they could get away with. I salute them for at least reducing the abrasion that takes away the joy of learning in freedom.
What I'm trying to do is play peek-a-boo around the hated teacher I know as Professor Arnold P. Stinqae. I often want to refer to him with every vile name thinkable. But that would be wrong. Name calling is what tormented school children do.
When I see soldiers breaking into homes and terrorizing families, I want to reach in with my super powers and tell them what ass faced motherfuckers they appear to be. But that would be wrong. Wrong in the sense that namecalling is a very provocative thing, and can only stir up more rage than they already feel. I only convey this to show I'm not riding a high horse, and wrestle constantly with this miserable habit. The brave men who are publicly exposing this gigantic ongoing atrocity are telling us what it's like to have no choice but to act like an ass faced motherfucker.
I hear much good will in the direction of putting a stop to that stop choice predicament. I do not believe that the evil that runs this war is contrived by any devil. These are men and women who were arrested in the newness of life, and were pushed and dragged in the name of practical knowledge and preparation, to literally act as there own worst oppressor. Call me naive, but I have an optimistic view that what is beneath the surface of man is not the heart of darkness, but rather the goodness that is natural.
We must intervene. We must intervene in ways that demonstrate that even though guilt is an essential part of being human, no single human can bear alone what was induced through identification with the appearance of a collective calling. They were psychologically brutalized into thinking that honor was to be found in joining the melee; that it's a great collective effort in which to join and experience pride and meaning and glory. When they find themselves in the midst of unconscionable disgrace, MUBAR, messed up beyond all recognition, then the call of conscience suddenly becomes every man for himself. They need help, but to arrange for their psychiatric treatment is merely to consign them to the methods that attempt to contain the evil as a personal problem.
I've heard the plea that we own up to our complicity; but on my own recognizance I say oh no for any part whatsoever of it. I've been careful to speak out against violence in all of it's forms, and in particular against this war that I'm absolutely convinced was predicated on all eleven features of controlled demolition of the WTC complex performed behind the cover of plane crashes; and my first entry is a highly concise answer to the rising tide of shame within the Masquerade State.
Now I see with all this anonymity, there is fear for what many of the winter warriors warned us about. Its dangerous to speak out honestly. If we however, are too afraid to speak out now, planning a civilized resistance even under surveillance, how much worse will it be when all the plan for a naziesque world is in place.
I want to hear what you have to say. zedjason@earthlink.net
War in Iraq
Heyyyy! im a 17yr old boy in England... Ive been listeing all weekend and it is very intereseting! my question is... Where are the leaders of these raids and why do they allow such degradement of humans because of there nationality?
Appreciation
Again the whole program reminded me of how I lost my brother in viet nam. Moments so painful. Thank you. I realize that I have never cried. My brother was in an open casket but he was Under a Glass cover and the officials would not allow me to approach my brothers casket. They let my mother and others to have a close view. I know that my brother had a huge knot on the left side of his neck and the telegram said that he apparently fell over board and died.
I hope that you can give us in the Bay Area an opportnity to voice our healing from the loss of war victums.
Sincerely
Vietnam
Lyndon Johnson's massive escalation of the Vietnam war was based on the lie of the 'Gulf of Tonkin incident'; declassified documents now show that there was no attack on the 'USS Maddox' and 'USS Turner Joy'; then of course there was Nixon's campaign organisers that skuppered the Paris Peace talks, leading to two more years war and many more lives on both sides. forgiving ourselves
As a woman nurse vet who served in Vietnam, I attended a retreat for vets given by Thich Nhat Hanh. It was, ironically, a quote from this Vietnamese monk that started me on a path to healing (far from complete as my three days of non-stop crying during these testimonials has shown): "You have seen many awful things, sometimes by your own hands. But do not think you are the only one responsible. You went for your country, You saw for your country." The rest I do not remember word for word, but it was to say that we can serve as the points of light to teach our people the truth of war. I've never had the strength to do more than write a book, and I'm eternally grateful to these young men and women for standing in my place.
thank you
Thank you for showing yourselves as berkeley traitors. how many of your "brother in arms" did you manage to get killed with your treason?
HUH?
I am confused? Was George Bush in attendance?
treason?? what??
whatever...you must not know ..it is not the soldiers fault..grow a brain..and realize most of the soldiers did not know they had been lied to...see now...
noone was "lied" to. it is
noone was "lied" to. it is your false premise and your anti-American mindset that will always blame America first. i wish someone would do an analysis on the water in berkeley, somebody put some kind of "traitor drug" in it.
Traitors
If you stopped reading the comics that pass as Mainstream Newspapers and read some serious books instead, you would discover that the real traitors are in the White House, large companies, Federal Reserve, CIA, FBI, DIA, Chiefs of Staff etc.
You could start with Howard Zinn's 'People's History of the United States' and 'Voices of a People's History of the United States; Peter Hounam's Operation Cyanide' and Robert Stinnett's 'Day of Deceit'.
The Truth may not save us, but it sets us free.

Keep your head in the ground too long -> it soon seems like home
By your comments I advise you consider pulling your head from the hole in which you are hiding it from the truth.
If you leave it there too long Haliburton may dump some leftover concrete in on top, and then send us taxpayers a bill for 1,000,000 dollars!
$1,000,000?
Couldn't outsource the cement job to a less expensive contractor; or unemployed Americans in need of some income?
With that said, I agree with everyone disagreeing with Anon., and he or she must surely not spend any serious time reading from people who [think] in serious, real terms. I'm (both disgusted and) very surprised that people can still think the way Anon. illustrates after five years of war against peace on Iraq (and U.S. troops, ...), in addition to the years of 2001-2003, that is, the preceding years of war against peace on Afghanistan. Enough or many people have written en masse over these years, for CLARITY to finally have commenced to replace obscurity; but Anon. illustrates that there remain laggers like him- or her-self.
If I was serving in the military, then the last types of people I'd want by my side or on my "team" would be such LAGGERS, always tremendously tardy. After all, the troops NEED people to be ON THE BALL, fast thinkers, and so on.
noone was "lied" to. it is
Interesting that certain people like to change things so that it seems that "America" is being blamed when it is actually the policy makers who are being looked at.
It's always easy to snipe at folks when you do it from the shadows, unlike the men and women at winter soldier who have let it be known who they are.
Grateful, humble thanks
I would like to thank all who planned, executed, and/or testified at Winter Soldier this weekend. You are the most courageous people I know. I am a member of MFSO in Upstate NY. My son is in the army. He has not yet been in combat in Iraq. You are my heroes.

general comments
Dear KPFA(Aimee,Aaron et al)
Thank you for your broadcast!. I have sat riveted to my computer for three days being assaulted w/ a variety of emotions simultaneously: grief, rage, guilt, horror, compassion and hope.I haven't experienced so many tears in a long time. This testimony was taking place as the "Blue Angels" sported in the sky above the Sacramento area in their murder machines. I thought what would it feel like to be bombed and strafed, I felt for a brief moment a small fraction of the shock, terror and horror the Iraqi people must experience on a daily basis. I feel galvanized to do something more than the usual useless, pointless participation in rallys and demonstrations. I see scant hope that a change of administration will get us out of Iraq as quickly as is needed. It's time for massive non violent direct action! I'm rambling and barely coherent it will take a while to sort all this out. Thank you, thank you, thank you. And those who testified...What courage! Awesome!
Peace and Blessings...Rob
Morality Destroying Environment => Atrocity Producing Situations
The overwhelming force of testimony delivered this weekend brings home, with tears, the same tragic lessons that were so clearly delineated by the brilliant psychiatrist, Robery J. Lifton in his book - "Home from the War: Learning from Vietnam Veterans".
Like Vietnam, once again we see the patterns of how, military command systematically establishes and promotes the the exact type of Morality Destroying Environment that is almost guaranteed to trigger, in a stress of violence moments, "atrocity producing situations".
Robert J. Lifton continues his work with Iraq & Afghanistan vets. He also exposes the notion of America's propensity toward "Apocolyptic Violence" - the idea that (in Vietnam) "in order to save the village, they had to destroy the village".
This weekend we hear how, in order to "make Iraq safe" we are destroying Iraq and its people. Why must we must serve Iraq billions of undeserved bullets and shells? just so McDonalds start delivering billions of unwanted hambergers, and Exon-Mobil-BP-SHELL and pull the $9 TRILLION worth of oil (NOW worth 7 trillion more than invasion in 2003).
On Memorial day 2007, I wrote this poem which follows. I was so sick of the lies and bloggers arguing - "support the troops", "Impeach Cheney" ...
I crafted this piece as a Poetec I.E.D. blast square in the face of the caravan of ceaseless propaganda pouring from our corporate (G.E) dominated U.S. media.
2008: Final Two Words -
QUAGMIRE & IMPEACHMENT
What Americans think, feel, vote, and say has zero bite.
With millions of votes Diebold stolen, accountability - so slight.
NeoRadical RepubliCons chose how to so waste our might ---
Just where, when, and why we had to go START a fight.
They'd planned for Iraq, with 30 years more oil still in sight.
Must control the price and flow into OUR gas tanks, right?
Exxon-Mobil, BP, Shell - profits future sure looks bright!
Hyped bogus threats, then fanned the flames to such great height.
9/11, Anthrax, and the mushroom cloud types of fright.
Pulled the Towers, then, with balled-up flags to plug their ears:
A Patriot Act panic attack => waived our rights to calm the fears.
How well a shredded Constitution wiped away our wasted tears.
Slick magic trick: lasted 800 years - now Habeas Corpus disappears.
Load the planes with C-notes, no bids please, as toxic dust clears;
Corporate warriors - No Draft! It's a private war - Three Cheer$!
Fat cat$, well fed by exce$$ corporate greed, $uch profiteer$
Borrow two billion daily; keep wasting dollars now six straight years.
Tens of billions fraud, whistleblowers stalled in Justice: no one hears.
Say what, a change of plan to end war profits? Sharpen up the spears!
Another traitor to be skewered, trot out the NeoCon-tradicting seers.
From Limpbowel, O’Rlie-to-me, and their ilk, we start to hear the jeers.
Interrupting homophobic rants about "No Marriage for queers",
To deliver freshly think-tank-framed simplistic scripted smears.
Sad sight, so many flags draped over coffins never seen.
The sinister lies that filled them burried deep beneath such patriotic sheen.
Human losses well disguised, and media filtered from our collective eyes,
By corporate puppet leaders, whose agendas we must now despise.
Pity Iraqi families, alone with blood, pain, death, despair,
Depleted uranium shells explode - poison dust spreads everywhere,
While pompous jingo windbags fill the U.S. propaganda-polluted air,
Will spews of false praise glory, hide the true neglect in veterans' care?
Fox Snooze hype NOT, as your heroes, our loved ones lost;
Their blood for oil - spent badly – much too high this cost.
Keith Rupert Murderdoch, the boss who must be tossed!
Long past his “Mission Accomplished” day in years now more than four,
One so delusional Decider is still not looking for an exit door.
One aggressor, an invasion-occupation, never was a war!
The stench, the smell - corruption, failures everywhere,
Yet all we hear is that which plays upon our deepest fear.
A drone of platitudes preached to stretch our stay another year.

The War Comes Home
Thank you, Amy, Aaron and KPFA, for making this historic broadcast available for the entire weekend. Special thanks to the men and women who have shown such dignity and courage throughout their testimonies.
This is an historic event. I pray it is the beginning of the movement towards peace that has, so far not been strong enough.
Thank you all, especially the panelists.

What will you do with what you have heard here
These men and women have given and risk everything for their country. I hope what some will carry away from this is that the time for outsourcing heroism is over and that more regular citizens will realize that their country needs the same type of courage and commitment from them that has been asked from these young people.

tragedy
Thanks to all the participants for all of the truth, self-revelation, atonement - overwhelming! Agony, reality of war, blood of both nations, all the costs, completely hidden from average amurikans, all under the bloody grinning white house prix. Impeachment is our duty.
I am so grateful to the organizers, IVAW and the many others! But this MUST be seen and heard by more people!
The tragedy is the confluence of corp media blackout (looked in vain for ANY coverage all weekend), PR and propaganda blitz by OUR GOVT, echoed and amplified by the same corp media, and the impotence of Congress in the face of growing disgust of citizens.
I wish you healing and peace.
Art
Thank you all so very much. You are the bravest men and women I have ever had the privilege of listening to. I have followed a writer since 2006. Along with her posts is artwork from the Middle Eastern artists that represents what she is writing. It is phenomenal art and the writing comes from the heart of the Middle East. Art represents culture. I would invite you all to go to "arabwomanblues.com" and learn about first hand experiences of this precious soul as she tries to survive along with her neighbors. The posts are very expressive and will help one to understand what we are doing to other human beings 'in our name.'
I just want to say to all of you that you are the most intelligent, thoughtful, compassionate people on this planet. I wish you all the ability to heal yourselves and we all need to heal from this devestation wrought
across our planet. Forever grateful for all of you.
An argument...
As painful as it is to hear the truth about this illegitimate war and occupation from these incredibly brave soldiers, I cannot not keep listening. This is truly an amazing program and I have personally encouraged over 30 friends and family members to listen, as well as to let their friends know about it. It is too important for people not to know about.
A continuing flashback that I have had these past three days while listening is from an Easter picnic I attended in March 2003. It was somewhat awkward when I ended up getting into an argument with several older men, some possible WW2 vets, regarding our impending invasion of Iraq. A picnic is supposed to be about fun and games, yet I couldn't help myself. I believed from the bottom of my heart that we were being duped into something very wrong, yet no one else took my side. My husband was torn, and sorry that I was not able to contain myself, but understood how deep my feelings were.
A year later I met one of these same men with whom I argued, this time at a memorial service (not related to the war). I had long ago put our argument aside, and was surprised when this man approached me and apologized for arguing with me, as he later realized that I was, indeed, right. I was impressed with him not only coming to that realization, but also going out of his way to let me know.
But what has been so tragic for me as I listen to story after story of these brave Iraqi veterans is that all of this could have and should have been prevented. These young people's lives have been broken. They have experienced things no human being should ever have to experience. And for what? For the power and greed of an administration unlike any other in history. So very tragic.
Thank you so much for this work. I truly hope it will accelerate the process for us to end this illegal occupation and make those at the top who are responsible pay for their horrendous actions.
