LOUIS-JEAN “Had America gone to war with Haiti while I was on active duty it would have been my obligation as a Marine to fight against Haiti. Assuming they had the forces to fight against us, I would have to fight against my own country in pledge of allegiance to America but yet with all this you’re going to tell me that with all this, I’m never going to qualify for citizenship.”

JORGE REYES “The hardest thing for me was computers. I joined the military in 1997 and from 1997 until 2007 technology has changed dramatically, while the only thing I learned during those years was how to clean my M-16 or how to mount up a 50-caliber machine gun.”

BOLLES “To look at these young people and see them without arms and legs and see them badly burned, see them blinded, see them with irreversible severe head injuries, see them badly injured never to recover again – to see all that and then say ‘this is a horrible cost and is what we’re doing worth this?”

We're no longer a migrant minority in this country and we're potentially powerful but with that comes the temptation of taking 30 pieces of silver and not realizing when you're turning Christ over to be crucified.”

JEFF KEY “People who are trying to become conscientious objectors now are being told no. 'Nope, you know, you're going to fight. Even people who are coming out of the closet as gay are being deployed.”

HALL “I tried to be stronger than the drug. I used to tell my customers ‘Do the drug, don’t let the drug do you,” but then I found myself in the same predicament. The drugs took over my life.”
